Free 1-year ArcGIS Desktop License
(For Personal Desktop or Laptop)
Students, faculty and staff at Clemson University can use a one-year free license of ArcGIS Desktop (Advanced Edition). Please follow the steps below to get your own copy of the software.
Please note that ArcGIS Desktop will enter mature support in March 2024 and will be retired in 2026 (For more detail, please visit Esri website here). We highly recommend current ArcGIS Desktop users consider migrating to ArcGIS Pro.
2. Checking for software requirement
Please confirm that your computer meets all the software requirements for ArcGIS Desktop before installing it on your computer. Click here to check your computer's ability to run ArcGIS Desktop.
3.a Installing ArcGIS in your computer (For the first time)
Please make sure you have completed steps 1 and 2 before starting the installation of ArcGIS in your computer.
To install ArcGIS Desktop follow the instructions in the attachment below (Note: These instructions are created for ArcGIS 10.6 but you can follow the same instruction to install any other versions). You will need to have access to the Clemson network in order to get the installation files. If you are working remotely, please use Clemson's VPN.
If you need any extension for ArcGIS Desktop, you can go to Software Drive and look into it or you can contact us.
Tip: Checking your installation
Go to Start - Programs - ArcGIS - ArcMap. If the program opens without any problems, congratulations, you just correctly installed and authorize your software!
If not, please contact us to help you with any issues (but not before you have read and follow our instructions).

3.b Renewing your ArcGIS License for 10.X
Please make sure you have completed steps 1 and 2 before renewing your license.
To renew ArcGIS Desktop License for 10.X, and above follow the instructions in the attachment below. You will need to have access to the Clemson network in order to get the installation files. If you are working remotely, please use Clemson's VPN.
